SAN DIEGO The13th Annual Sheila R. Hardin San Diego Multicultural Festival is just around the corner. The annual event, which will take place Saturday, January 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., typically brings more than 20,000 San Diegans downtown to celebrate cultures from around the globe. Music and dance performances, storytelling and children’s activities as well as a wide range of food and retail vendors are all part of the free, family-friendly event.

The festival is held along Martin Luther King, Jr. Promenade (between Fourth Avenue and Market Street on Harbor Drive) across from the San Diego Convention Center.”

This year’s event will also incorporate a variety of cultural and learning institutions as part of the Downtown Education Fair, which allows attendees to find out more about learning opportunities throughout downtown. A free drawing for prizes including Amtrak Surfliner passes, restaurant and local business gift cards is part of the fun, too.”

Food, activities, performers, celebrating the wonderful diversity found in San Diego.  You can find out more on their website, which includes an Interactive Map!

Six of Diamonds?

===========

I love playing cards. I have since I was a little girl. I remember at a young age playing a card game called Pasur with my mom.  Actually I still play the game with my parents when I go visit.  Go Fish to Black Jack to Texas Hold’em Poker, and a variety in between, I have been playing with cards since I was young, also building many house of cards.

So I came across this very interesting connection between a standard deck of cards and our Earth year.

The Cards and Our Calendar
The regular playing cards are the only ones that match the cycles of the earth. This is why this system is so amazingly accurate.
52 cards = the 52 weeks in a year. The four suits are the four seasons.  13 cards in each suit signify the 13 new Moons each year as well as the 13 weeks in each season. The color red is for day and black for night.  But the most amazing is this: add up the number value of every card in the deck, Ace being a one and so on. Jack is 11, Queen is 12 and King is 13. The entire deck adds up to 364. But add the Joker, whose value is 5/4 and you get 365 ¼, the exact number of days in a year.

From Robert Lee Camp

Now that is pretty cool!

Where I found it from was on this app on Facebook and it is similar to a horoscope (but I would even argue more accurate), but based on the 52 card deck/our earth year.  I had a reading done, and it says I am a Six of Diamonds – which has to do with Responsibility and Finances.

So far it has been an interesting read… Something fun to do when its cold outside…..

What is your card reading?  Do you find it accurate?

The images tell a thousand words.  If you look even past the amount of money spent every week or the number of people the food feeds, and look at the food itself, you will be shocked at how much processed food we Americans eat.  I am glad that in my home, our primary food is not processed but I have much room for improvement.  The most shocking picture is that of the very last family in Chad.   What little they survive off of.

I shared the images with my daughter, so she can be grateful for all the abundance and comfort in our lives as I am.
